LBP God of War mini pack coming January 29th

Jan 21st 2009 - 11:59 PM

As you might have already seen, new LittleBigPlanet DLC for January and early February has been revealed.

In amongst the great new costumes and content packs is the God of War mini pack. Some lucky North American customers have already had this pack for some time now; as the God of War mini pack was available for all who pre-ordered at Gamestop. However, January 29th sees the commercial release of this pack, which will retail for $2.99 (£2.39 / €2.99 TBC).

Let’s have a quick recap about what the God of War mini-pack includes:

  • Special God of War themed stickers
  • Three costumes: Kratos, Medusa & Minotaur

imageFeeling horny?

Kratos is of course also included in the God of War mini pack, although his availability has been somewhat more widespread than his Medusa and Minotaur chums. In the UK for example, the Kratos costume was available through the Official PlayStation Magazine via a promotional code.

January 29th also sees the commerical release of the Kratos costume, retailing at $1.99 (£1.59 / €1.99 TBC).

Little Big Planet MGS DLC Delayed

Dec 23rd 2008 - 10:12 PM

Despite Media Molecule creating what is perhaps the most awesome DLC content ever, for any game; Sony have managed to disappoint the community by not releasing it on the day on which they announced they would.

image

European Community Team Leader ‘Muster Buster’ has told European Community Forum members that the content will be released “Not today, cant confirm tomorrow.“.

Naturally, this is a huge disappointment for the LBP community. Many players have been checking the PlayStation Store all day, waiting for the content to arrive. Again, communication is an issue for players here, as it is unlikely that the decision not to launch today was made late in the day. A simple announcement would have been fine.

With Muster Buster saying he can’t even confirm it’s release for tomorrow, we wouldn’t be surprised if the release date slipped to Thursday, the day when the PlayStation Store gets its regular update.

Will it still launch in U.S and Asia? We’ll update with more news when we hear it.

[UPDATE]

The U.S has now received the MGS DLC on the U.S PlayStation Store, Dec 23rd 6pm E.S.T. We can’t confirm Japan or other regions, but Europe is still MGS-packless, for no significant reason.

SCEE did inform press that the pack would be released in Europe on Dec 23rd, it was confirmed when they announced their pricing for the packs across Europe.
Interestingly, SCEE sent out a press release last week saying that there will be a Wipeout HD demo on the European PlayStation Store on Christmas Eve. If they do update the store tomorrow, then there is a good chance of the MGS packs arriving at the same time.
1am update perhaps? Maybe that’s hopeful, but keep your eyes peeled in Europe.
Americans… get downloading!

[FINAL UPDATE]

The MGS DLC is now available on the European Store, 12 hours later than expected.

Don’t forget you can see some screenshots showing all these things and more. Though you pretty much *have* to watch the official trailer, it’s great:

Wow. There has been so much great news over the past 24 hours, we’re going to need a holiday!

LBP Festive Level Kit on the PSN Store now

Dec 18th 2008 - 8:32 PM

The much talked about Festive Level Pack is now available on the EU and US PlayStation Stores. Rather sensibly, the Level Pack has been renamed to Level Kit. Which makes perfect sense as it doesn’t actually contain any levels.

We’ve had a chance to look over the Festive Level Kit and we think it’s rather excellent. In fact, we’ve done a quick video review to run over the things and hopefully answer a few questions you might have.

So there you go. Materials, funky stickers, 2 costumes (plus the second part of the free santa costume this week), and some down right awesome Christmas decorations. All the new items are stored in your pop-it with the in-game story mode items. So your pop-it is not going to run out of space (that limit is just on ‘community items’).

It might only be one day a year, but this level kit sets the standard and paves the way for future kits, like the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 Level Kit.

Don’t forget, if you’re downloading the Festive Level Kit that update 1.06 is out now and it’s a 25Mb download, so get busy!

LBP “Level pack” hitting PSN this week

Dec 16th 2008 - 10:20 PM

The PlayStation Blog have just confirmed this weeks DLC for LittleBigPlanet.

As revealed on the PlayStation Asia site last week, this weeks DLC is an explosive pack crammed with a new material, costumes, stickers, decorations and new objects! WOOt!

image
  • Two new Costumes – Christmas Tree headpiece and a Wrapped Sackboy.
  • One new Create Material = Wrapping Paper (cardboard w/ giftwrap texture).
  • Two new Objects = A Festive Sleigh and holiday themed light.
  • Six new Decorations = A Festive Bauble, Bell, Wrapping Bow, Candy Cane, Card and Stocking.
  • A ton of new Stickers = holiday themed of course, including a Red Nose Reindeer, Elves, Turkey images and many more.

This is great news! Especially for all those excited little sackboys and sackgirls opening their LittleBigPlanet-shaped presents under their tree on Christmas day in just 9 days time.

The only thing that we’re perhaps a bit confused about is why on earth have they decided to call this a LittleBigPlanet “Level Pack”? When it contains no levels.
OK, granted - you’ll be using these fun new stickers, materials and objects in your levels, but we prefer the name of ‘Festive Goody Pack’ - the name they’ve gone for over on PlayStation Asia. - it’s not as confusing, ahem.

The LBP Festive Level Pack is available this Thursday on the PlayStation Store for $2.99, until January 8th.
