[UPDATE]
There is currently a problem with the PlayStation Store, both in Europe and North America. For many users, it is currently not possible for people to purchase this and other content from the store, but we’re hoping that normal service will resume again soon.
[UPDATE AGAIN]
PSN user BlahYourHamster has created a level containing all the stickers. So you can “see them before you buy”. More info on the EU community forums.
We’re getting a lot of confused emails coming through about the St Patricks Day Leprechaun costume which was not released as expected on the North American PSN Store yesterday.
SCEA have planned to release the costume on St Patricks Day itself, which is next Tuesday March 17th. Sam wasn’t quite aware of this when he made the announcement yesterday, and apologises for the muddle.
It’s only a short wait, so keep your sack-socks on!
It is unclear as to whether it will be available for a week in America (as it will be elsewhere) or just 2 days (when the next store update is).
Ahhh, the sweet taste of news!
It’s been a bit quiet on the DLC news front recently, with last week’s “Sack it to me” on the U.S blog even saying they were biting their tongue, due to lack of news.
The wait is over today though, as Sam Protagonist just revealed the next five weeks worth of upcoming DLC content. Woohoo! Let’s take a look…

Top of the morning to ya’!
The Japanese LittleBigPlanet site has revealed that a costume will be released to celebrate this years St Patrick’s Day (which is next Tuesday), by releasing a Leprechaun costume!

Wow. That’s some green you have there.
Aw, surprise surprise, he’s cute!
The costume is available from the Japanese Store right now for free. Expect to see this on the North American and European Stores later today when the stores update.
We’re hoping that there will be some paid for content too, perhaps the Killzone 2 content? Kai and Nariko? Sepiroth? Bumblebee? Buz, Patapon, Little Monkey King? There are quite a few waiting to be released…
St Patrick’s Day is celebrated all over the world, mostly by people who aren’t actually Irish - but everyone likes a bandwagon and an excuse to drink Guiness celebrate Irish culture.
Oh yes, and If you’re lucky (or have ‘the luck of the Irish‘), you might be able to pick up one of the millions of silly Guiness hats that are available around the world at this time of the year. We literally have about 5 of them, here in the Planetoid observatory. One from Japan!
So, keep an eye out for the St Patrick’s Day Leprechaun costume on the LittleBigStore later today, and we’ll be posting an update of all the upcoming DLC later today too.
Thanks to macaca_nana and spisbell for sending this in. Sorry we were asleep, else it would have been up sooner
Eagle-eyed LBP fans have spotted that following the 1.10 patch which came out today, an ‘Ancient Monkey‘ costume has appeared in the icon for the ‘design a Sackboy competition winners’ section of the LittleBigStore.
We’re calling it ‘Ancient Monkey’ because it appears to be ancient and it looks like a monkey (plus nick, a regular reader called it that):

It’s highly likely that this costume will be free when released, as all the other ‘design a Sackboy competition winners’ have been free. Everyone loves a freebie right?
We’ve only really got one thing to say about this news:
“Oooowwhhhhh! Tripppppppiiiitarrrrkaarrrrrrr!“.
Sod it, let’s splash out and embed something incredibly cool:
Remember, people - With our thoughts, we make the world. /discodance
Update: The Monkey appears to be none other than the Monkey King from Journey to the West, a story from Chinese literature that was made into a most excellent 80’s TV show, and was recently adapted for the stage by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Well done to commenters Southe and Joeli83cr for spotting that! Here’s the competition entry:

Need we say more? Oh OK then fine, The US Playstation blog today confirmed these new costumes, to coincide with the release of Patapon 2! Geif!

After the news that there would be no dlc for LittleBigPlanet this week, community members will be pleased to know about some of the upcoming costumes arriving soon, as revealed in this weeks Sack it to me on the U.S PlayStation Blog.
Two costumes have been revealed for Killzone 2. They were expected this week, after a hint on the U.S PlayStation Blog suggested February 27th. But alas, it was not to be. Heavenly Sword and a Buzz costumes have also been revealed:

We all knew this was coming! Killzone 2’s Helghast Trooper.

Another Killzone 2 outfit comes with little surprise - ‘Sev’, the main protagonist from the single player campaign in Killzone 2. We could’ve sworn it was Mr T at a glance though…

It’s the cheese-master himself, Buzz! from the ever popular quiz games.

The previously exclusive Heavenly Sword Nariko costume is presumably now seeing a ‘commercial release’, much like the Kratos costume did a few weeks back.

Kai (Nariko’s cranky little sister) from Heavenly Sword also gets a costume.
Prices and dates are yet to be announced, so it’s all a bit of a tease. Still no news on the Sepiroth and Bumblebee costumes (design-a-sackboy winnning entry) that are in existence, but we’re sure they’ll surface at some point.
We’re sure that many players will be pleased to see the Nariko costume released - if only to stop the “ZOMG! NARIKO CODEZ PLX“ threads popping up on certain forums… ![]()

PSN user brnxblze recently sent his save file in to Media Molecule to help fix the game saving bug. Well, it got sent back to him, and when it did, it had some hidden extras!
Pretty much all the costume items ever were in his pop-it! Although many were locked, as brnxblze had not purchased them and didn’t own them, the items were visible in his pop-it anyway. So, the LBP Crown, Toro, Ape Escape, Space Suit - all there.
Thrown in to the mix however are costumes which are not yet released, like the Wipeout costumes which are due for release this week, the Sepiroth costume from Final Fantasy VII and a new ‘Design a Sackboy’ competition winner, the Bumblebee.
All the ‘competition winner’ items to date have been free, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the Bumblebee costume is out this week alongside the paid-for Wipeout costumes. When is the Sepiroth costume out? We can only presume ‘very soon’. There is no sign of the Killzone 2 costumes, which was hinted at having a February 27th release date, so perhaps Sepiroth will be out before then? If that were the case, then it’d leave just this week… Anyway, enough speculation, here are the pics!

Sepiroth Coat from Final Fantasy® VII

Sepiroth Wig from Final Fantasy® VII

Sepiroth Trousers from Final Fantasy® VII

Sepiroth Gloves from Final Fantasy® VII

Bumblebee wings ‘Design a Sackboy’ Competition entry

Bumblebee skin ‘Design a Sackboy’ Competition entry

Bumblebee antennae ‘Design a Sackboy’ Competition entry

Auricom Racer from Wipeout® HD

Feisar Helmet from Wipeout® HD

brnxblze doesn’t own these items, so he can’t use them.
We look forward to hearing about the PSN Store update later this week.
Thanks to brnxblze for sending this in and sharing his find!
The Ape Escape ‘Pipo Monkey’ and Toro costumes are back on the store today, after someone accidentally flicked a switch andreleased them early in Europe and then America at the end of last month, they were promptly removed until their official release date came around. Of course if you live in America these guys are on the store for the first time round! The US Store was never updated to remove them, so this is olllllld news to you Americans, still, Europeans rejoice?
If you didn’t manage to grab them during their brief accidental appearance, or were thwarted by the Atlantic Ocean, now is the time to go forth and get your hands on the best Sackboy eyes in the universe. Each costume costs $1.99/ £1.59 / €1.99.
By the way, you can check out all the downloadable costume information anyone could possibly dream of in our complete DLC Archive feature.
Well, it’s not surprising really. LittleBigPlanet players snapped up the MGS4 DLC goodies like nobody’s business during January, firmly placing both the premium level pack and the costume pack at numbers 1 and 2 respectively for January’s top downloads from the PS Store.

Awesome sauce. Everywhere.
It’s also interesting that the list, revealed in the latest episode of U.S downloadable PSN gaming show Pulse, features 6 items in the top 10 that are related to LittleBigPlanet. The game is seriously hammering the nail of DLC and additional content - the flag-bearer, if you will.

The Ape Escape “Pipo” Monkey costume and Mainichi Issho Toro Costume have now gone live on the EU Store, two weeks earlier than previously announced. They were officially announced for release on February 12th.
They are both priced at £1.59 / €1.00 each.
We’re not sure if this is a mistake or not, but you can login to the EU PS Store and they are currently purchaseable as of now. The God of War mini-pack and Kratos, Groundhog Day & Chinese New Year costumes are all also available. The U.S Store has not yet been updated, so American players will have to wait and see if this rolls out across the pond.
Todays EU PS Store update

This unexpected surprise is bound to please many fans who’ve been wanting these costumes since they were released in Japan last year. The Ape Escape costume was available from selected retail outlets in Japan through pre-order, and the Toro costume has been available to buy in Japan since November 13th 2008. This update sees both the costumes available globally through purchase.
There are some technical issues currently taking place, as booting up the game currently gives a 403 error, which many users are reporting. We’re sure this will resolve itself though, whilst the LittleBigStore finishes updating. Or something.
The good news is that we can officially confirm that the Ape Escape “Pipo” Monkey costume has the best eyes, ever.
[UPDATE]
It seems that Europe has been a bit naught and has released these items ahead of schedule. Community Development manager Sam Protagonist says:
The originally stated dates are still accurate, however it looks like the European store has been a little overzealous, releasing much of the content straight away. Chances are this will be recitified shortly, so if you’ve managed to snag the new stuff early you’ll have a little longer to use it.
On the server front, there are some issues at present that are being investigated. We don’t expect the outage to be very long but there’s no scheduled return time just yet.
Get them early while you can!
