A new LBP contest is taking place in Europe, giving players a unique chance to win one of those super-special, super-spangley LittleBigPlanet Crowns.
The February Level Design Challenge is open now and is accepting entries until 23 February. So you’ve got just two weeks!
With levels being judged by Media Molecule themselves, competition entrants can expect the very best in final decisions. Along with a LBP Crown, winners will also receive a Sackboy figurine.
The official competition announcement is as follows:
As part of our “I ♥ PlayStation” month of events, we’d like all you LittleBigPlanet level creators out there to take up our February level design challenge.
We’d like you to create a fun, surprising and ingenious LittleBigPlanet level that requires two players to play through and complete. So any contraptions, puzzles or devices that you include in your level must involve the co-operation of two little Sackboys (or Sackgirls!) to finish.
When you upload your 2-player LittleBigPlanet level, make sure you use the following 4-letter tag at the start of your level name so we can spot it: “LBPF” (the F’s for “February”!). Please also ensure that any levels you upload agree with the LittleBigPlanet Upload Guidelines.
At the end of the month, MediaMolecule will pick out the best level and reward its creator with an adorable Sackboy figurine and the very rare, much-coveted LBP Crown!
Upload your levels by midnight on Monday 23 February 2009 to be in with a chance of winning. Good luck!
More information, plus terms and conditions can be found on the official forum thread for this contest.

This is almost entirely unrelated news, but some very good friends of ours have just released the open beta to their first PC game title - Plain Sight.
It’s a fun little game in which you control a sword weilding robot, jump around mini planetoids and explode yourself in other people’s faces. How can you say no to that? Check out the trailer below…
Anyways, the guys are having a level design contest, and we thought perhaps some of the level design skills people have been honing in LittleBigPlanet might be transferable!
All you need to do is sketch your idea for the level onto a sheet of paper, scan it, and send it in - easy. Of course it would probably help to play the game first, which is lucky because it’s a tiny 40mb download, and the beta is open to everyone, no account needed! Why not give it a shot?
The Independent Film Channel has teamed up with SCEA to give one lucky Happy Gadder out there a chance to win $5000, by creating a short film and submitting it to their Play Create Share contest.
Interestingly enough Little Big Planet is already secretly an awesome device for Machinima creation and short story telling, the Media Molecule trailers with city smashing monsters, or knights in armour saving damsels, being prime examples of existing works, and we were wondering when the first films would start to appear…
LittleBigPlanet is a new video game that celebrates the art and act of creation first and foremost. Play the game, create and customize your character and environment, and share what you’ve made with others.
In the same manner, The Play/Create/Share Short Film Challenge asks filmmakers everywhere to have more fun and let their imaginations run wild. Play in, create and share your unique world with us.
Show us what you got by creating a short film that pushes your creativity to the limit.
It’s time for Planetoid to start work on the Oscar winning short film based on real historical feudal Japan, and starring a guy who’s ability to change weapons in real time, will one day save the world as he strikes the attacking Giant Enemy Crab for Massive Damage.
If you live in the UK, are over 18 and want to win a trip around the world, £7,000, a PS3, and a copy of LittleBigPlanet, why not enter this competition from MTV?
Watch the video on this page, sadly unembeddable (come on this is 2008 guys) and mixed by someone who loves beats above information, but if you strain your ears hard enough you can work out that Sony and MTV will be giving away the aforementioned prizes to one lucky person who manages to figure out a complex and frankly unanswerable question:
What is the name of sackboy the main character in LBP, is it ‘Sack Boy’ or ‘Ruck Sack’? Man contests are hard these days! Enter here, we have.
Thanks LiBiPl.net for the heads up!
