Top 20 LBP Level Kit Predictions

As the year draws to an end, it's traditionally a time to reflect on the past 12 months, and look to the future.
Here on the Planetoid, we've been thinking over all the wonderful happenings of 2008 in the glorious world of the Little Big Planet.

Of course, the most fantastical thing is the Little Big Planet itself, which has opened itself up to world. Every day, new Sackboys and Sackgirls join the huge community online: playing, creating and sharing the most brilliant of ideas. Since launch, LittleBigPlanet has continued to grow with weekly updates of download-able content (DLC) and feature updates via patches.

In the last few weeks, the floodgates have really opened with the arrival of level kits. Starting with the Festive Level Kit, and this week, the Metal Gear Solid Premium Level Kit, the game itself has been flipped over and proverbially spanked in to a completely new dimension, and we love it!

So, as our end of 2008 feature, we've compiled our Top 20 Little Big Planet Level Kit Predictions. 20 big ones. The things that we'd like to happen (but won't really happen), mixed in with the things that we think could happen and things that we really know will definitely happen.

Enjoy!

Sex and the City

Sex in the City

One for the ladies this one, well and those men out there who love the adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte too! Entitled Sacks and the City, this expansion is comprised for four costumes, one for each of the girls, with all the clothing items designed by some fashion designer somewhere. Gamers can expect naughty antics as the sackgirls romp around a cityscape, and then a set of levels designed around each characters deepest sexual desires. Ooo err!

Lazy Town

Lazy Town

Stylin' Stephanie and Sportacus are coming to the LittleBigPlanet to get all those fat sackboys and sackgirls off the sofas and onto their feet. These levels will encourage exercise by including a whole set of new musical tracks, and stickers of 'sports candy'. They will also be filled with cleverly designed visual and audio based propaganda that made anyone who played for even a short amount of time put down the controller and go outside to play football, all the time singing a hyperactive rave song about how videogames will make you fat.

He-Man

He-Man

After Sony took a demographic slice of PlayStation users in early 2009, they realised that their richest customers were in their late 20s, early 30s, and looked for an iconic figure from this demographic's childhood with which they could make money through happy nostalgic memories. They decided upon 80's superhuman hero, He-Man. The most powerful man in the Universe. The 4 costumes included are classic villain Skeletor, lovable warrior Man-At-Arms, Prince Adam, and of course our hero He-Man. Players battle their way through 5 poorly animated levels, starting at Castle Grayskull and traveling all the way across Eternia to Skeletor's evil hideaway in Snake Mountain, where the the cackling Evil Lord of Destruction is destroyed. Battlecat is included as a ride-able transport in the later levels, and

The Beatles

The Beatles

After Paul McCartney received a PS3 for Christmas and played LittleBigPlanet, he finally allowed someone to licence the Beatles IP and create this fantastic fab four level pack. This pack includes costumes for John, Paul, George and Ringo dressed as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Players must navigate a Yellow Submarine themed set of levels, which are abstract and trippy to say the least, with the ultimate goal being to save Pepperland from the music hating Blue Meanines. As expected, the pack also includes a set of songs to match the levels, and costs way more than usual.

Friends

Friends

Friends: The one with the Sackboys, is a pack that comes from way way off left field. Very plain costumes for each of the six main characters of the once popular sit-com are included, except Ross because no one likes that guy. Additional costumes include an 'ugly naked sackguy' costume which is comprised of nothing at all, and a re-release of the turkey head costume. Levels, like the show, are often predictable, but still enjoyable. Most of the action takes part in the 'Central Perk' level, or one of the two apartments. This add-on also comes with the ability to wear every single costume in your inventory at the same time as a homage to the episode entitled The one where no one's ready.

Star Wars

Star Wars

Dooo doooo didley dooo doo, diddley doo doo, diddley dooo! It's the big one, Star Wars, and not that useless prequel junk either, the real deal from back when George Lucas wasn't quite so utterly incompetent. This fanboy dream pack includes costumes of Luke, Chewbacca, Han Solo, C3-PO, R2D2, Princess Leia and of course Darth Vader, and a set of levels based on their classic space adventures. Expect this pack to be remastered a few moths after release, and every few months after, to add things into it that don't need to be changed, charging you again to see them, and alienating the entire fan base.

Costume pieces based on iconic armour tier sets for each class in the game, and an unlockable set of Lich King armour for those Sackfolk who are unable to resist Frostmourne's call, and wish to sit on the Icy throne themselves. Levels, made in conjunction with Blizzard, contain missions such as killing 40 snow badgers, and a final Raid encounter against Arthas himself.

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy

This one is fairly definite to appear some time this year, with information on in being leaked at the same time as the MGS a few moths ago. What it will contain, other than a Sephiroth costume is unknown, some more costumes, presumably of Cloud and his cohorts, such as Barat, Yuffie, Aeris or Vincent are fairly likely, but we'll have to wait to see if this will be a special pack along the same lines as MGS, with new levels and items, or more like the Street Fighter package of four costumes. Perhaps levels would be filled with materia instead of the usual prize bubbles, include some intense CGI, and levels based around a plot to destroy Jenova and save the world. Time will tell!

Killzone 2

Killzone

With February's arrival of one of the PlayStation 3's Triple-A flag-bearing titles comes this Killzone 2 Premium Level Kit. Packed full of awesome content, players can finally get their hands on the sought-after Helghast costume, first featured in a 2008 LBP trailer; Killzone 2's lead character, Sgt. Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko also has a costume. The level kit features 5 nail-biting levels that take you through the barren landscapes of Helghan. The Helghast's ability to control weather systems is beautifully recreated the new weather systems tool, which can be unlocked and used in Create mode. The weather systems tool can transform a bright sunny day to a blisteringly cold arctic tundra or from the humidity of a sticky tropical forest to a torrential autumnal downpour. If only they'd shown a video of this back at E3 2005, instead of that CGI video...

Bonus entries

We've got a bonus entry here after a comment from Naughty Dog implied that there would be Uncharted 2 DLC. We couldn't resist it...

Bonus

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Uncharted: Among Thieves

It's time for Sackboys and Sackgirls to put on their adventuring gear and head into the jungle, with this Uncharted: Among Thieves level kit - released alongside the full game this autumn. Packed in to it is a classic Nathan Drake costume, and also a costume for side kick hardcore journalist, Elena Fisher.
Marvel at how the shirt remains half tucked in half not tucked in at all times... just like Tim Schafer says, half-tuck is the new mullet. Unlike certain other adventurer sequels, let's hope this one won't nuke the fridge.

Some of them ideas are pretty insane… But ninja turtles should surely be higher on the list! And bloody higher than slipknot at that!!!!!!! Come on, I mean they are practically essential and will have to appear at some stage!!

Anchor

PS… SUGGESTION TO THE CREATORS OF THIS SITE!

One thing I have been looking for but havent found (that I think would be really cool and useful) is an inventory of all the clothing/costume items in the game and where to find them. And also a list of the complete costumes and the items used to complete them!!! What do you think???

Anchor

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your suggestion - it’s something that has crossed our minds once or twice before and it’s definitely a worthwhile page to add. I think we’ll do this sometime in the future.

smile

Anchor

Awesome!!! da spiderman and da ninja turtles look like a must 4 lbp!!!! and rememba u dont hav to agree with me its mmy opinion!! :D

Anchor

and i agree with you steve!! ;D

Anchor

Very cool, but you guys probably shouldn’t write those descriptions as though your level packs are actually coming out.  Chance of getting misquoted by rabid fans: 100%

Pretty convincing mockups, otherwise!

Anchor

Real water would be the best expansion (just please not little mermaid!).  As for IP’s, Star Wars with lightsaber melee powerup.

Anchor

I would like to see, a movie action hero pack, example, Indiana Jones, Gladiator, etc or tie ins with game relaease, like uncharted 2 or faith from mirrors edge (level packs as standard).

Anchor

You have to send an e-mail to Sony and MM to try and get the rights to bring the Turtles to LBP. I would so buy a Sackboy kit from the TMNT series. Plus it needs Master Splinter and the Shredder.

Also Sony allowed the Metal Gear Solid kit to use guns may be this kit could allow the gang to use weapons so they could fight Shredder and his little bad guys.

They would just be stickers that come to life when you make them. There could be the Purple Dragon, Leatherhead & the Mousers

Anchor

the people want NARUTO!!! lol na i just dont think which one would be dope i just see which one would look actually real and people would recognize at the moment.. so naruto its a pretty sweet deal the same with mmm idkn something from a game coming up soon like Killzone i know it would be for download pretty close to Feb.. nywayz good job with the page

Anchor

That turtle outfit looks like it came straight from Media Molecule!!! Kudos to whoever photoshopped that!!!

Anchor

Wait until you see some of the others Tony Nibbles made smile

Anchor

omg Iron man is da bomb!!!!

Anchor

IRON MAN!
CONTACT MARVEL!
MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Anchor

Ironman Want! Now! lol give it marvel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anchor

WOW Iron Man was very well photoshoped. It is so much more cooler than Spiderman. Please make that costume happen!!!

Anchor

The Spiderman one would be great, especially if they included the web-slinging ability.  Can’t wait to see more of these.

Anchor

Iron Man isn’t just awesome, it is necessary.

Anchor

wow, those are brilliant!
why not make freddy krueger, jason, leatherface and michael myers, thay all have masks and tools as well smile

Anchor

ZOMG, IRON MAN please!!!

Anchor

Sorry, I forgot to add in, I wouldn’t mind seeing a “Crash Bandicoot” one. It was one of the first games I purchased when I got my Playstation 1 wayyyy back in the day.

Anchor

WANT MASTER CHIEF NOW. GIVE NOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!

Anchor

i need POKEMON!!!!!!!!!

Anchor

who’s Master Chef?

Anchor

*nice* wink

Anchor

OMG… whoever made these costumes… is/are a GOD(s)! Those are too cool for words.

I really would like to see the Master Chief, Jak/Daxter and/or Devil May Cry costumes please!!!

Anchor

These post are surprisingly very fun to read and how ‘bout throwing Kingdom Hearts up there some time when Kingdom Hearts III arrives.

Anchor

Iron Man has got to be the single coolest LBP costume I’ve ever seen. Iron man can shoot blue paintballs of of his hands. Get Iron man and It’ll be a hit for sure.

Anchor

DANTE LOOKS NICE.. PLUS HAS A SPADE!!! ALOTTA NEW STUFF WOULD POP WITH DAT NEW ITEM.. TROW GAARA IN THERE!!!

Anchor

MasterChief on PS3 is a reality now ! 360 is over…

Anchor

The A-team one made me laugh, I would definitely buy that pack. Keep up the great work.

Anchor

hmmm wheres the Disney update with little mermaid and new water material?  Whatever the update, this game needs liquids to be complete.

Anchor

It would be awesome if you kept doing this. It’s the greatest initiative I’ve seen in the LBP community.
I know you have a lot more ideas, so throw them out!

Anchor

Anda Lara Croft???

Anchor

Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LARA CROFT

Anchor

Yes YES!!!!

SACKLARA CROFT

Anchor

omg omg omg omg omg omg. all those would be awesome

Anchor

OMG sTar WaRs fosho!!!! plz ppl we need star wars!!!

Anchor

Yeah we need more enemy materials like Ice which was shown in a video that I saw, it was quite fun to see. Also I would love to see real water in the game, that will take away the frustration of making water-illusion with other stuff.

Anchor

If that Darth Vader costume isn’t released, I will take it upon myself to lead the revolution.

There will be pitchforks.

Anchor

Yes, please! I need the Darth Vader one!!!

Anchor

I love all the ideas but a Ghostbusters one would have been awesome too. With working proton packs!

I believe Sony own the ip as well which would make it possible.

Anchor

@Redswipe

That, my friend is an awesome idea.

I’m thinking we’ll need to do a follow up to this Top 20 smile

Anchor

holy god damn Ghostbusters geif now.

Anchor

i think a *spyro* costume would be awsome!!!!!!

Anchor

Woah… weather tool?!

Anchor

I also think it should be Lara Croft, and some of Resident Evi

Anchor

Yes! Lara Croft should appear, and may also Chris Redfield

Anchor

that would be so cool!

Anchor

Nice job on the top 5, I would get them if they actually came out.
